ST SAVA

BELGRADE, SERBIA

St. Sava is located in central Belgrade and its the biggest orthodox temple in Serbia and on the Balkans. The church is one of the biggest in the world. The construction started in 1894 and 30 years later the architectural plan was approved. During the Second world war, the construction stopped until 1984 when the Yugoslav government gave the official permission for the church to be finished. St. Sava is a built-in neo-byzantine style. In 2004 the construction of the outside part of St. Sava was finished but the interior of the church is not yet finished. This temple-monument is an important part of today`s Belgrade look and becomes more and more like a symbol for the city.
