Pula is the largest city on the Istrian Peninsula, with its incredible sea views. The town has a long tradition in winemaking, fishing, shipbuilding and tourism.
A curious fact is that in 1905 the Irish writer James Joyce taught English at a local school.
As a result of its rich history, Pula is a city with a cultural diversity of architecture, customs and traditions, some of which are borrowed from the Mediterranean and Central Europe. The architecture of Pula reflects these moments of history - among the city's sites are many preserved sites of the Roman era, including one of the world's most impressive amphitheatres in the world - Arena Pula.
