DAY 1 |
Arrival at Belgrade airport. Meet and greet with the guide. Transfer to the center of Belgrade. Visit to the Church of St. Sava, largest Orthodox temple on the Balkan peninsula. Accommodation. Walking tour in the historic center of Belgrade from Republic Square along the main pedestrian street “Knez Mihailova” to Kalemegdan Park and Belgrade Fortress with magnificent panoramic view towards the confluence of Sava and Danube rivers. Optional dinner at a traditional Serbian restaurant with live music. Overnight in Belgrade.
DAY 2 |
Breakfast. Free time in Belgrade, or optional one-day tour to Sremski Karlovci and Novi Sad (tour duration – approx. 8 hours). Short walking tour in Sremski Karlovci, most important cultural center of the Serbs under Habsburg rule, seat of the Serbian archbishopric and patriarchy, famous for the abundance of small family wineries. Wine tasting at one of the wineries. Proceed to Novi Sad, second largest city of Serbia. Novi Sad is known also as “Serbian Athens” thanks to its great role in the Serbian National Revival. Here are the headquarters of some of the most important Serbian cultural institutions, including Matica Srpska. Here, along the shores of Danube River, you will witness one of the most impressive fortresses of Europe, Petrovaradin, also familiar as “Gibraltar on the Danube”, masterpiece of the fortification construction of the 18th century. Return to Belgrade. Optional boat trip along Sava and Danube rivers (approx. 1 hour). Optional dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Belgrade.
DAY 3 |
Breakfast. Free time in Belgrade, or optional one-day tour to Smederevo, Viminacium and Golubac (tour duration – approx. 11 hours). Visit to the great fortress of Smederevo built in the 15th century. In 1459 it was conquered by the Ottoman empire, which marked the end of the independent Serbian mediaeval state. Proceed to Viminacium, one of the Roman cities and border military encampments of the Roman empire that developed in I-IV centuries. Visit to the archaeological complex. Visit to the fortress of Golubac, built in the mid-14th century on the shore of Danube River as a Hungarian military garrison. Return to Belgrade. Optional dinner at the hotel. In the evening – optional visit of rakia bar for tasting of rakia (local brandy). Overnight in Belgrade.
DAY 4 |
Breakfast. Free time in Belgrade, or optional one-day tour to Ovcar-Kablar gorge, protected natural area in Central Serbia with magnificent landscapes along the shores of West Morava River (tour duration – approx. 9 hours). The gorge is filled with monasteries, for which reason it is known as Serbian Holy Mountain. Visit to the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Monastery, located at the end of the gorge. Continue for a boat trip along the river to reach the largest and most important of all the monastery complexes – Nikolje, where more than 150 monks once lived. Sightseeing tour of the complex. Visit to the historic center of Cacak with the local museum and the Church of the Ascension. Return to Belgrade. Optional dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Belgrade.
DAY 5 |
Breakfast. Free time in Belgrade or optional tour to Vojvodina and Avala (tour duration – approx. 11 hours). Departure for Vojvodina autonomous region, where the Serbs live alongside a myriad of other communities of different nationalities and religious affiliations – Hungarians, Romanians, Slovaks, Ruthenians, Croatians. Arrival in Kovacica and visit to the local gallery of naive art – local style developed from the Slovak inhabitants of Vojvodina, which represents their traditional life and culture. Meet and greet with the local people in the village, which is an open-air museum. Departure for Zrenjanin for a walking tour in the historic center of this green Serbian city situated along the meanders of Begej River. In the afternoon – visit to Ecka Castle, nowadays housing a family hotel, representing the life of the Hungarian aristocracy in the 19th century – the famous composer Franz Liszt has been a guest at this residence. Return to Belgrade and visit to Avala Tower – panoramic viewpoint with magnificent vistas toward the Serbian capital. Optional dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Belgrade.
DAY 6 |
Breakfast. Free time in Belgrade, or optional tour to Manasija Monastery and Resava Cave (tour duration – approx. 9 hours). Departure for Pomoravlje in Central Serbia. Visit to Resava Cave – one of the oldest caves in Serbia famous for its magnificent rock formations – stalactites and stalagmites in white and reddish colors. Visit to the natural reserve of Lisine Waterfall. Departure for Manasija fortified monastery, surrounded by imposing walls with eleven towers. This fortress was constructed in the beginning of the 15th century to protect the monastic community and local peasants. Sightseeing tour of the monastery complex with the Church of the Holy Trinity – prime example of the Morava architecture school. Return to Belgrade. Optional dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Belgrade.
DAY 7 |
Breakfast. Free time in Belgrade, or optional tour to Oplenac (tour duration – approx. 8 hours). Departure for Topola. Visit to the Royal Winery in Oplenac for wine tasting. Continue for the historic center of Topola where you will visit the fortress of Karadjordje with the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin and the small museum dedicated to the leader of the Serbian revolt against the Ottoman empire in the beginning of the 19th century – Karadjordje Petrovic. In the afternoon – visit to the Church of St. George at Oplenac – royal mausoleum of the Serbian rulers from the dynasty of Karadjordjevic. One of the most beautiful Orthodox churches in Serbia, it is well-known for its beautiful decoration with mosaics of colored glass with thousands of different nuances. Return to Belgrade. Optional dinner at the hotel. Overnight in Belgrade.

Breakfast. Transfer to Belgrade Airport and departure.
