DAY 1 |
Arrival in Zagreb. Transfer to the hotel and accommodation. Overnight in Zagreb.
DAY 2 |
Breakfast. Walking tour in Zagreb (approx. 2 hours): the biggest Catholic cathedral in Croatia, Dolac market, mediaeval Stone Gate, St. Mark's church with its famous colour-tiled roof, Lotrscak tower, Ban Josip Jelacic central square. Free time in the city centre for a walk around the parks or individual visit to museums. In the afternoon – visit of the Natural Park Lonjsko Polje – one of the biggest wetlands in Europe where you can observe numerous species of birds and other animals. Overnight in Zagreb.
DAY 3 |
Breakfast. Drive to Plitvice lakes - one of the most beautiful and best preserved natural areas in the country. This is why the entire lakes and surrounding area with exceptional beauty were declared a national park in 1949 and are listed on the UNESCO`s list of World Heritage Sites. It is a valley situated between high forested mountains in which lie, one below another, a string of sixteen beautiful lakes of crystal blue and green waters. The Plitvice lakes` scenery will simply delight you regardless whether you are walking the paths and wooden bridges, taking a boat ride or just taking photographs. Walking tour along one of the main tourist routes (about 4 hours). Drive back to Zagreb. Overnight in Zagreb.
DAY 4 |
Breakfast. Visit to Medvednica mountain for a walk to the old fortress Medvedgrad, connected with the local legends of the Black Queen (“Crna Kraljica”). Drive to Opatija – the oldest summer resort on the Adriatic Coast. Overnight in Opatija.
DAY 5 |
Breakfast. Visit of the beautiful Brijuni Islands – one of the most picturesque places in Croatia. Once a residence place for the Jugoslavian leader Josip Broz Tito, now visitors can admire the remains of the ancient Roman villa and a small zoo while riding a tourist train. Drive to Pula and sightseeing tour in the town. Pula is most famous for the ancient Roman Amphitheatre - 1st century AD building still used for concerts nowadays. Other points of interest include the cathedral, the temple of Augustus, Irish writer James Joyce’s statue. Drive back to Opatija. Overnight in Opatija.
DAY 6 |
Breakfast. Drive to Postojna in Slovenia. Visit to the most spectacular cave in Europe. Walk among the rocky formations, grand galleries and of course ride with the unique cave train with a possibility of seeing the little creature proteus inhabiting the cave. Visit to Predjama castle, built in front of the entrance of a large cave. Drive to Ljubljana. Accommodation. Overnight in Ljubljana.
DAY 7 |
Breakfast. Walking tour of Ljubljana: river Ljubljanica, marketplace, town hall, Dragon's bridge, Triple bridge, Presheren square, Congress square. Free time. In the afternoon – visit to lake Bled, a lovely place where you can admire the unique Julian Alps or take a boat to the small island in the middle of the lake. Drive back to the hotel. Accommodation. Overnight in Ljubljana.
DAY 8 |
Breakfast. Transfer to Zagreb/Ljubljana airport and departure.
